Matale Zonal Athletic Meet 2022 Hindu College Matale win Boys’ Overall title

Hindu College Matale put up an outstanding performance as they clinched the Boys’ overall title at Matale Zonal Athletic Meet 2022 concluded recently at Hindu College ground in Matale.  
They collected 174 points while pushing defending champions St. Thomas’ College Matale, the reigning champions for 40 years into the second place with 53 points.  
Weera Parakrama MV Yatawatte with a tally of 45 points secured the third place.  

Hindu College displayed their superiority especially in the Boys’ Under -16 and 18 segments and in the relays.  

G. Praveen who returned best timing in the U16 Boys’ 100m (12sec) and Siva Manojan the winner in the Under-18 Boys’ High Jump (1.72m) were named best athletes in the respective age groups.  

S. Thudiharshidan from Hindu was also placed first in the 400m, 800m and 1500 m events.  

Hindu College also had the honour of winning the Boys’ relay championship.  

The meet was organised and conducted by the sports education unit of Matale Zonal education office.
