COLOMBO, Nov 27 (Daily Mirror) - The MotoSurf Asia Continental Cup Championship held in Colombo marked a significant milestone as it coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Lanka Power Boat Association.

The event hosted the inaugural MotoSurf World Championship on the picturesque Beira Lake in Colombo.

Top racers, including Marek Skamla, the fastest world champion of 2021, and Down Kim, the fastest world champion of 2022, competed in three categories, delivering thrilling races and adding prestige to the occasion.

Drawing participants from 10 countries, the championship introduced a new water sport experience to Sri Lanka, featuring the fastest Jetsurf motorised surfboards, reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h.

The MotoSurf World Cup, conceived by motorsport-disciplined engineers, has evolved into a premier series for top Jet Surfers worldwide, reminiscent of other major motorsport events.

The Lanka Power Boat Association (LPA), led by President and founder Prassane Ranaweera, is an affiliated body of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

The guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony and the opening of the Lanka Powerboat Association Experience Center was Sagala Ratnayake, Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor to the President of Sri Lanka. This centre will be open to the public, offering an opportunity to experience the thrills of Jet Skiing and formula powerboat racing in the heart of Colombo.
