New scoreboard for Wesley College

The foundation stone ceremony of Wesley College’s brand new traditional scoreboard

In celebrating Wesley College’s 150th anniversary, the distinguished old boys laid the foundation stone for a brand new traditional scoreboard, which is a heartfelt gift to the beloved grounds cherished by every Wesleyite. This act of love and pride honours Wesley’s lasting legacy, connecting the past and present in a symbol of unity.

Designed to blend with the English Country Club outlook of Wesley’s Pavilion, the project is led by Maithree Vithanage on behalf of the Old Boys Union, reflecting the camaraderie and pride of Wesley’s alumni. It pays tribute to the school’s rich colonial heritage and the longstanding traditions cherished by many.

The much-valued venture was made possible by the generosity of Trishan Satyadheva, an alumnus and CEO of Nabco in the UK. After building a successful career in Britain, Trishan returned to express his gratitude to Wesley College. Inspired by his reconnection with old friends and schoolmates at the 150th anniversary celebrations in March 2024, he was moved to take an active role with the Old Boys’ Union.

Under the visionary leadership of Capt. Navin De Silva, the incumbent President of the OBU, the project highlights Wesley College’s bright future and enduring legacy. The foundation stone ceremony was attended by Principal Avanka Fernando, Trishan, and Capt. Navin, along with other notable alumni, including L.C.R. Wijesinghe (Wesley’s senior-most cricket captain), L.R. Goonetilleke (Wesley’s senior-most former Sri Lankan cricketer), and retired DIG B.M. Jurangpathy (Senior cricketer of Wesley).

The classic traditional scoreboard honours Wesley’s rich history, inspiring current students, and underlining the splendid accomplishments to be rolled out in the future. Ora Et Labora
