Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan talisman, is set to miss the opening Test of the two-match series against Zimbabwe due to personal reasons.

Rashid, who was named for the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, played the last of his five Tests against Zimbabwe in 2021.
The 26-year-old had been away from red-ball cricket as per the advice of his physician following his back injury and subsequently missed the Test series against New Zealand.

Later, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced that he would be away from Test cricket till November and there were doubts on whether he could make it to the Test Squad for the Zimbabwe tour.

However, Rashid was eventually included in the 18-member squad for the series, scheduled to begin in Queens Sports Club at Bulawayo today.

The ace leg-spinner posted a picture of himself on his official Facebook page where he was seeing posing in the Netherlands on the same day when the Afghanistan Cricket Board had posted pictures of their team undergoing preparations at Bulawayo for the first Test.

There wasn’t any sign of Rashid in those snaps shared by the ACB. (Agencies)
