SL athletes win two gold medals, a silver and a bronze in para Grand Prix meet

Sri Lanka's para-athletes won four medals including two golds at the 14th Fazza International Athletics Championships being held in Dubai.

Saman Subasinghe and Anil Prasanna won gold medals, while Indika Gamage claimed a silver medal and Pradeep Somasiri clinched a bronze as the Sri Lankans beat more fancied European and North American rivals.

The Fazza International Athletics meet is part of the six-event World Para Athletics Grand Prix. 

Subasinghe won the T47 category 400m event clocking 50.89 seconds while Prasanna won the T42 category 100m dash clocking 13.50 secs.

Indika Gamage finished second in the T44 100m dash clocking 12.43 secs while Somasiri was placed third in the T46 1500m event clocking a personal best time of 4:02:89 secs.

The four-member Sri Lanka team was accompanied by Roy Samantha as coach and Brig. Bandula Bandara as manager.

Their tour was funded by the Department of Sports Development and commercial sponsors Dialog Axiata and MAS Holdings.
