Sri Lanka claim first win of Central Asia Women’s Challenge Cup 2023


Sri Lanka claimed their first win of the Central Asia Women’s Challenge Cup 2023, coasting to a 3 sets to 0 win over the Maldives in Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday. 

This was Sri Lanka's first victory in this eight-nation competition.

Sri Lanka lost their first two matches in pool B to Uzbekistan 3-0 and Kazakhstan 3-1 before sweeping to victory over Maldives, winning all three sets 25-18, 25-13 and 26-24. 

Maldives fought hard in the last set, but Sri Lanka managed to hold off the challenge to win. 

The classification round matches begin today with the finals to be held on May 28.
