Sri Lanka down Bangladesh in Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Sri Lanka ‘A’ overcame Bangladesh ‘A’ successfully to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 Cricket Tournament in Oman.

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka ‘A’ opted to bat first and they managed to post 161 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

Pavan Rathnayake (42), Lahiru Udara (35) and Sahan Arachchige (30) were the major contributors with the bat for Sri Lanka ‘A’. Rejaur Rahman and Ripon Mondol bagged two wickets each for Bangladesh ‘A’.

Sri Lankan bowlers showed great discipline with the ball and managed to restrict the opposition for 142 runs, snatching a 19-run win.

The wrist-spinner Dushan Hemantha who is having a great tournament with the ball, once again stood out for Sri Lanka, scalping another three-wicket haul.

With this win, Sri Lanka claimed the top spot in Group ‘A’ with two wins in three games, securing a semi-final berth.
