In a thrilling second T20 under the lights at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium, New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by five runs, with a ball to spare, leveling the series 1-1. Lockie Ferguson's hat-trick and Glenn Phillips’ key wickets turned the game around after New Zealand posted a modest 108.
Despite opener Pathum Nissanka’s 52, Sri Lanka’s innings collapsed due to Ferguson's pace and Phillips’ spin. New Zealand’s innings saw early setbacks but recovered with crucial partnerships, while Wanindu Hasaranga starred for Sri Lanka, claiming three wickets. Ferguson’s performance earned him Player of the Match, while Hasaranga was named Player of the Series.
The teams will meet for the first ODI on November 13 at the same venue.
