ITF Junior Circuit Tennis Week 2

Two Sri Lankan junior players Vichinthya Nilaweera and Dinara de Silva tasted success in the boys and girls categories of the ITF Junior Circuit Week 2 tennis tournament played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.

Nilaweera succeeded to make it to the final by coming out on top against Xianfeng Chen of China who was forced to retire due to an injury in the semi final encounter while de Silva made it to the semi final with a hard fought two sets to one win over Amodini Naik of India and Yuhan Chen of China advanced to the final of the girls category having chalked up wins against Eunsoo Lee of Korea and Sreenidhi Balaji of India in the quarter and semi final encounters. Girls – Dinara de Silva (Sri Lanka) beat Amodini Naik (India) 2-1 (6/7, 7/5,10/6)

Semi Finals:

Girls - Yuhan Chen (China) beat Sreenidhi Balaji (India) 2-0 (6/3, 6/2).

Boys – Vichinthya Nilaweera (Sri Lanka) beat Xianfeng Chen (China) 1-0 (2/0, rtd). Jintao Lan (China) beat Nordal Clausen (Denmark) 2-1 (3/6, 6/3, 10/6).
