Excitement builds for the Ogilvy Challenge Trophy, which started way back in 1903 will go in as a board event, plus NEGC Texas Scramble and Scotte Rowe will take place at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) starting 11 January at their course in the Hill Country.

The tournament will tee off on 11 January with the Scotte Rowe Stableford Non-Board Event exclusively for Gents. Known for testing both precision and strategy, this event sets the stage for the thrilling competitions ahead.

On the following day the spotlight shifts to the Ogilvy Challenge Trophy Stableford Board Event, another Gent’s tournament that demands consistency and focus across all 18 holes. As a board event, it carries historical prestige, attracting seasoned golfers eager to etch their names in the club’s legacy. Dr. Nayana Dehigama is the defending champion, and cricket fame Olga Herath was the runner-up at the last event. The grand finale on 13 January will see the NEGC Texas Scramble, a dynamic team event featuring two Gents and one Lady per team.

The Texas Scramble format fosters camaraderie and excitement, with players combining efforts to navigate challenging fairways and greens efficiently. On the same day, tree planting and the installation of lake strainers to capture plastic waste in the Gregory Lake in line with the Clean Sri Lanka national project will also take place.

NEGC, which started its operation in 1891, had given the very best of tournaments for their members around the year. As golfers prepare to tee off in this highly anticipated event, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is set to deliver an extraordinary show of skill, sportsmanship, and passion for the game during the long weekend. The organising part is headed by NEGC Secretary Brig. (Rtd.) Nanda Hathurusinghe and its committee.
