Trinity College played cohesive rugby in the initial half to set up a huge 49-point (9 tries, 2 conversions) to 14-point (1 try, 3 penalties) win over Sri Sumangala in their Schools Under-19 Rugby League encounter, which concluded at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

Trinity led 32-5 at the short breather.

Trinity played some good running rugby in the initial half, scoring six tries, but in the second half, through some handling errors, they could touch down only three times. Ravin Illangarathne, Dehan Watagoda, and Murad Raizan played well for the Lions.

Meanwhile, Sumangala, who defended most of the initial half, played well in the second, scoring nine points through three penalties despite conceding 17 points.

Trinity drew first blood in the 2nd minute of the game through a powerful move by Usman Shafraz, which ended in a Dinusha Peiris try. Trinity touched down their second try through Murad, who ran down in the left corner flag with electrifying speed. Udeesha Ratnayake touched down the third try, which was goaled by Yevan Hulangamuwa. Trinity scored three more tries through Usman Shafraz, Murad, and Yevan. Sumangala scored their solitary try through Shashika Bandara.

After the short breather, Sumangala put over three penalties by Nazar Adhil, while Trinity scored tries through Thisanga Dissanayake, Shan Althaf, and Ramindu Wanasinghe. Kicking duties by the Lions were below standard, as only two conversions were taken accurately from the nine tries scored.
