Feb. 5 (Daily Mirror) - With some sensational golf, Uchitha Ranasighe, son of former top-class golfer Anura Rohana, secured an overall 3rd place with a score of 293 while Shahab Uddin of Bangladesh claimed the first position, scoring a remarkable 288, while pushing Baker Siddik, also from Bangladesh, to the 2nd position with a score of 290 at the 37th Orion Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship, which concluded at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka recently.
Golfers from South Korea, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Australia, and Sri Lanka graced the event, making it a truly international affair.
Chalitha Pushpika, another talented member of the Sri Lankan outfit, showcased remarkable golf, securing the 7th position overall with a score of 301, along with Liton Mondol (Bangladesh).
In the team event, Bangladesh’s B team emerged victorious, securing 1st place with an impressive score of 287. Following closely behind, Bangladesh’s A team secured 2nd place with a score of 296, demonstrating the depth of talent within the host country. Sri Lanka secured a commendable 3rd place in the team event with a score of 300, showcasing their prowess on the green.
The Sri Lankan team, comprising Uchitha and Chalitha, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the championship.
The Orion 37th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship 2024 not only highlighted the individual talents of the participating golfers but also served as a platform for fostering international camaraderie and sportsmanship.
