The Colombo stock market witnessed yet another lackluster day where deep sell downs were shown on a range of stocks. ASI dipped by 64.81 points (-0.97%) to end at 6,604.23 where as liquid MPI dropped by 29.98 points (-0.50%) to settle at 5,905.92. he market turnover was recorded at Rs.1.6bn.
John Keells Holdings Plc (Rs.434.7mn) recorded the top turnover with six crossings of 1.6mn shares at a price of Rs.200.00. In addition Softlogic Holdings Plc registered to be the second highest turnover counter with an off-the-floor deal of 15.7mn shares at a price of Rs.20.00. Furthermore Serandib Hotels Plc (Rs.90.5mn) made noteworthy contributions to the turnover.
Meanwhile Richard Pieris & Company Plc, Asian Alliance Insurance and Regnis (Lanka) Plc witnessed heavy investor participation.
Foreign participation was registered at 13.5% of the total market activity and at the end of the day foreign investors were the net buyers with a net foreign inflow of Rs.427.1mn.
