The Cabinet which met for the first time under President Ranil Wickremesinghe discussed that the country should be normalized within one week by regularizing functions of the government institutions such as the Prime Minister’s Office, the Presidential Secretariat and schools, Daily Mirror learns.
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi together with the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai intend to collect information pertaining to Sri Lankan students who are currently studying in India, in order to update the relevant databases, a statement from the Sri Lankan High Commission said.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe retained the cabinet which was formed by his predecessor Gotabaya Rajapaksa, but said it is an interim cabinet. However it has been assured that an all-party government will be formed later. One exception was the exclusion of Professor G. L. Peiris who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the previous cabinet. The portfolio was given to MP Ali Sabry this time.
