The Civil Society and Trade Unions Collective staged a protest outside the Fort Railway Station yesterday urging the government to prevent curtailing concessions given to the public. The protesters urged the government to reduce prices of essential items, prices of fuel and the interest rates.

A total of 18 cattle were found dead this morning following a collision with a tipper on the A9 road at Paranthan, Kilinochchi.The 18 cattle belonged to diary farmers who had been maintaining them in a plot of land outside the cultured areas of the Iranamadu lake.
