Business establishments across the country suffered due to curfew and other restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 pandemic. The business establishments in Colombo and Gampaha District suffered the most due to the curfew which lasted for over two months continuously in the two districts. With the government’s decision to relax curfew in these districts from Tuesday, businessmen resumed their operations with high expectations.
A black leopard trapped in a snare at Walamale in Lakshapna Estate, Nallathanniya was rescued by the wildlife official and taken to Nallathanniya Wildlife Office for treatment. Wildlife officials said the leopard aged eight years was about eight feet in length and four feet in height. They said the animal would be released to the Sri Pada Sanctuary after treatment. The Mihindu Seth Medura, Attidiya is the home of many war veterans who were disabled in the war. When we paid a visit to the Seth Medura, on the day before the 11th anniversary of Victory against LTTE, many resident veterans said they are only disabled physically and not mentally. ’We can tolerate more,’ they said. The Mihindu Seth Medura was a concept of the then Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
After imposing the curfew and other restrictions, the government encouraged people stuck at homes to focus on gardening as a mean of spending time wisely. Home gardening enabled people to engage more with family members and also to make their garden self sufficient in basic crops. Such a family, among many others, was seen enjoying home gardening.
People who are in various occupations were seen busy with them following the Government’s decision to relax the curfew regulations and resume work from Monday. In the picture, a barber in a Salon was busy with cutting the hair of a customer. Many of the workers were following health guidelines.
