Former PMD Director General allegedly threatens photographer

Colombo, November 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Kahathuduwa Police launched an investigation following a complaint filed by a photographer from the Presidential Media Division (PMD), alleging that he was receiving threatening phone calls from the former Director General of the PMD.

The complaint comes after several items, including a drone camera, were reported missing from the PMD.

The missing equipment was discovered during a search conducted at the division’s facilities after President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office. An internal audit has also been initiated to investigate imto the matter.

During the ongoing investigations the photographer reported receiving threats from the former Director General, who allegedly claimed to know that the photographer had been providing information regarding the missing equipment.

AKD should have realised that corruption, like cancer, had got deep rooted in govt., /society. To put it in numbers more than 50%. So going after corruption like AKD is doing after the presidential election would have a negative effect on the chances for NPP in general election. Those who were, even in a small way part of any corruption, would be fearful of what could happen to them when the investigations of their cases commence after an NPP victory. They wouldn't like NPP winning for their own escape. Therefore, they would vote for opposition parties. What AKD should and should not have done in between the two elections is a subject for debate. Hope the election results will go in the right direction for the betterment of all Sri Lankans.
