Prepare for presidential election first -President tells Cabinet

Putting an end to the rumor's that the general election or the presidential election will be held first, President Ranil Wickremesinghe reportedly informed the cabinet of ministers yesterday (18) that the presidential election will be held first.

Therefore, the President has instructed the cabinet, which met yesterday, to prepare for the presidential election first, informed sources said.

He stated that according to the country's constitution, the presidential election should take place first, and arrangements will be made accordingly, sources added

However, our foolish people will not understand . NPP is clueless how to run the country , I hope people don’t repeat the same mistake they did with Gotta .Ranil as the president , Sajith as PM will be good for the country.

Ranil is misleading the cabinet. Its very likely that he will dissolve parliament at any moment. He will not contest the presidential election as he's very unpopular even amongst Tamil and Muslim voters. Having a majority in parliament doesn't mean that these pohottu MPs have the support of the public. Appointing a notoriously corrupt MP as the chairman of the COPE has made Ranil even more unpopular. Ranil had a clean image before 2015 and the bond scam. However, now he's equally corrupt as Rajapakses. Desperate Pohottuwa might even back Sajith to prevent a NPP victory.

@Sambo - Preparing for the Presidential election and conducting the elections are two different things. Today we see Ranil a different person unlike the past as he has learnt some tricks from the Pottu manipulators which is up his sleeve to reveal when the time comes. He is still testing the grassroot realities of winning the Presidential election as he has a formidable opposition of two different parties, contending for the top slot. So don't be too cocksure until the last moment as this Porker Player who is an extrovert, creates excitement, activity and novel experiences and the common man will be taken unawares!!!!!!!
