Range Bandara removed from UNP General Secretary post

Colombo, August 30 (Daily Mirror) - The United National Party (UNP) is set to replace its General Secretary, Palitha Range Bandara, a top source said.

The source confirmed that Mr. Bandara will indeed be replaced. The announcement of the new appointment is expected later in the day.

Rangi has been a hardworking UNPer and he has been one of the members who has been close to Ranil even the party's debacle in the last general election, where even Ranil lost his seat. Now even though he decided to contest as an Independent candidate dumping UNP and changing the symbol, still the UNP party members supported him. With the corrupt SLPP MPs are backing him for the Prez election, UNP party members will never stand a chance for positions in the govt. Ranil is likely to lose the election bcoz he accepted the support of Pohotuwa MPs who are all corrupt and will be routed at the next General election.

It”s pathetic that during his tenure, he used his position to appoint his daughter Ojithma Rangebandara as the Third Secretary at our Malaysian mission, despite her lack of qualifications or experience in foreign or administrative service. This act of nepotism has unfairly burdened taxpayers, who are funding her salary , Air tickets,Accomodation and other benefits, while she contributes nothing to the mission's work. The Foreign Ministry must take immediate action to remove her and replace her with a qualified foreign service officer who can genuinely serve the nation's interests.
