Bathiudeen arrested from Dehiwala

MP Rishad Bathiudeen has been arrested by the CID from an apartment at Ebenezer Place, Dehiwala this morning, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Earlier, the Attorney General directed the Acting IGP to arrest MP Bathiudeen and produce him before courts for Criminal Misappropriation of Public Funds and Violation of Election Laws in 2019.

Accordingly, six CID teams were deployed to arrest him.

Lawyers of MP Bathiudeen has filed a writ application at the Court of Appeal seeking an order to prevent his arrest.

Meanwhile, police is reported to have arrested a doctor and his wife for allowing former minister to hide in their apartment.
