SJB you said it, don’t eat your words!
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has come out against an article published in the Daily Mirror today under the headline 'SJB invites Wimal, Udaya to join hands' written by Yohan Perera, stating that the party has never made such an invitation.
SJB Member Rehaan Jayawickrema even went as far as to take the matter on Twitter saying the SJB had made no such statement and what infact the General Secretary of the party said was one had to be mindful from taking anyone from the government. He even added his own twist saying the Daily Mirror had 'completely distorted the facts yet again'.
However the SJB seems to have not heard the party's own General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara who told the media yesterday that the SJB extended an invitation to the 11 dissidents that included Udaya Gammanpila and Wimal Weerawansa to join the SJB against their struggle to topple the government.
Madduma Bandara said it not once but quite a few times saying they were willing to invite any members who would now end the day to day struggles and work against the government as the government had failed.
The SJB now seems to want to go back on this invitation by some members clearly having a different stance. Instead of raising it and sorting it within themselves, they have chosen to discredit the media institution and discredit the reporter.
So much for media freedom, SJB.
