US Senate Committee urges SL Govt. to hold elections without further delay

The United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (SCFR) urged the Government of Sri Lanka to hold free and fair local government elections without further delay.

The SCFR said that any effort to trample the voice of the people of Sri Lanka is undeniably undemocratic and a direct violation of Sri Lankans’ rights.

The SCFR is a standing committee of the US Senate charged with leading foreign-policy legislation and debate in the Senate. (DSB)

Thank you for the US senate committee for paying attention to the prevailing democracy in Sri Lanka. For the attention of all the other reputed organizations, please, including the IMF and the UN Human Rights commission to prevent anarchy in Sri Lanka.

Excellent opperutnity to have election paid for by USA Wednesday, 01 March 2023 11:43 AM

US should donate money specifically to hold election. Election commission can make our country profit on this by having cost be 1 billion dollars for it too. Government printer can charge US dollar amounts as well as the police to make it all match up. And future elections can also be stopped for no funds, and US will give money for it then.

If Ranil continues with his suppression of human rights all aid will stop from western countries. The sad part is Ranil wouldn't care as long as he can hold on to power, people can die of famine and disease.

Great, this is the time we need your support. Don’t give any assistance to this illegitimate government. Country is run by all politicians who badly lost their electorate. So democracy in this country has thrown out of the window: JVP keep your ego aside and get together with others. Otherwise you have to face the dirty water treatment from Ranil again.
