Victoria Police conclude day’s search for clues in case of missing Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy

Victoria Police have concluded another search for clues in the disappearance of missing mother Samantha Murphy.

The 51-year-old from Ballarat failed to return from her regular run on February 4.

In March police arrested and charged 22-year-old Scotsburn man Patrick Orren Stephenson with her alleged murder.

Subsequent large-scale searches in the areas surrounding the Woowookarung Regional Park, where Ms Murphy often went running, have failed to locate her remains.

Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad searched the Ballarat area on Wednesday with the help of specialist police resources.

Ms Murphy's family was advised of the search.

Police confirmed late on Wednesday that the search was concluded with nothing of significance found.
A search in the Bunninyong area in May resulted in police locating a number of items including one resembling a phone.

Those items are still undergoing forensic analysis and police have not provided further details on that process.

Police have asked members of the public to stay clear of the search.  (ABC News)
