At the inauguration of Organization of Professional Association (OPA) conference under the theme ‘ Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development’  Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) CEO Vipula Wanigasekera said that Sri Lanka tourism is moving beyond the numbers game to adapt strategies to  attract high-end visitors who would spend more money during their stays in the country.

In his address he said that this conference is held at an ideal time when Sri Lanka Tourism is preparing itself for the celebrations of the World Tourism Day.
Most of the topics lined up in the programmes planned to commemorator World Tourism Day revolve around future trends of tourism, how to make tourism sustainable through innovation and how Sri Lanka could reach out to high end market segments including MICE tourism.

SLCB is responsible for promoting Sri Lanka as a venue for MICE meetings, incentive travel, conferences, exhibitions and events thus reaching out to high-spenders and Wanigasekera emphasized the role that can be played by the members of the OPA as they can be the hosts for meetings and conferences connected to their respective businesses.

SLCB made an appeal to the audience notifying them of SLCB’s role in the provision of bidding support, organizing expertise and value additions as the government’s arm for the promotion of MICE tourism.
