It is absolutely sad to see the countries lead allowing the creation of a new conflict for reasons for political expediency. It is the government's responsibility to see their citizens have a place to live.

We will never learn from our mistakes and seems to have a never ending ability to find some way to ruin our lives and in the process kill our selves. It's only a matter of time before another bloodshed.

See how underprivileged these people are. Some living luxurious lives in the cities want these people to get ride off that place. I wonder what fact is scratching them so much.

These are poor peasants of SL:plz do not wield authority & make them homeless;they are all citizens of SL & the management of this country has to take care of them; put them into friendly environment prior to acquiring the land;we are all one SL & cannot trouble our fellow countryman.

Be it Singhalese, Tamils or Muslims, these are poor people who live with great difficulties. Maybe one of the muslim children born in this village will be Buddhist monk in the next life and a Buddhist monk who is agitating against these poor people being housed there might be born a Muslim child in the same village. All of us are human beings.... Please... do not let Politicians poison and separate us as this and that. After some time the monks who agitate against and the Muslim Minister will forget about this along with the whole country. However, these poor people will still will remain here or elsewhere as a poor people ignored by all. When will we Sri Lankans learn to live like human beings not as Budhists, Christians, Muslims, Tamils etc etc ?

This short sighted action has created another problem as it may encourage the other groups to cut down more trees and destroy more forests to get lands. Not a wise way of resolving the issue.

Why not make these poor people re-settled in the Sinhala areas, then as of all races Sinhala, Muslim, Tamil, Christian etc... can live together.

Japanese were RICH... little did they expect to be living in shelters after an unexpected TSUNAMI hot em.... so dont be too sure that what u have today , u might have until ur last breath....

The GOSL simply HAS to step in and overrule this high handed action of this Minister YET AGAIN! ASAP and find these people land, IF they are GENUINE citizens, elsewhere, possibly in the North?

There are hundreds of thousands of Sinhala and Tamil people also without proper living places. Just get ot of your comfortable seats and go to poor areas. SO it should be equal and given according to their age, income and disability. Families who can work should be offered jobs and if they don't work they don't get any. People should also help with family planning as if they can't afford they should limit the number of children so that children don't have to suffer. With all these problems why are we giving Pakistanis in their hundred asylum and hoses?
