I agree with both of these commentators. Honourable election commissioner Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya, as a single person was able to handle any threats against him and made this historical change as peaceful election in the history of Srilanka. His honesty, courage and work ethics made him to achieve this success and lead as an example to many other civil servants in his caliber to do so. He is celebrated by the law abiding people all over the world. Thank you Sir!

It is really heartening to see Mr. Deshapriya telling in no uncertain words the power he has got to conduct a fair and free elections and his clear intention to use the powers vested in him. We know how much it helped to conduct the election without violence and fraud. What a rare gem in our totally corrupted government service! He saved the future of Sri Lanka by acting this way. Hats off to you. You will be remembered by all law abiding Sri Lankans for many many years to come!
