The UNP can win with a suitable coalition if they could publish a manifesto listing their aims to reflect what the public desires. First and foremost should be the controlling of the loose cannon monks E.g. the Gnanasera's of the Bodu Bala Sena. Secondly the unhealthy extended terms of the Executive Presidency or even abolishing it altogether. Thirdly create quotas for the government institutions to recruit from the ethnic communities to reflect their volume.
